JULIA MADESON:

Julia Madeson was seen on stage last month in the New England Light Opera's revival of Sigmund Romberg and Oscar Hammerstein's The New Moon, and in March 2005 gave her cabaret debut at Jimmy Tingle's Off-Broadway Theatre in Somerville. In 2004 she performed in George & Ira Gershwin and George S. Kaufman's 'Strike Up the Band' at Longy School of Music in Cambridge, in Maury Yeston’s 'Nine' in Newton, and in Robbie Solomon’s 'The Orphan Queen' in Brookline, (MA). Trained in Bel Canto at the Manhattan School of Music with Edith Bers and in Tel Aviv with Netania Davrath, Julia sings concerts and recitals throughout New England under the auspices of her custom music company CelebrationSongs (www.celebrationsongs.com). CelebrationSongs performances include engagements at the Ritz-Carlton and Bay Towers (now State) Room, as well as in private homes and retirement communities. Her range of musical styles includes the Off-Broadway lead in a Fred “Mister” Rogers children’s opera, original music with the touring group Goddess Gospel, and fronting an electric five piece band. Madeson has performed as a soloist from New York to Australia with choruses such as Orpheus Chorus and orchestras including the Hudson Valley Philharmonic. Julia is a member of the American Society of Composers and Publishers (ASCAP) , and serves on the Board of the Boston Association of Cabaret Artists (BACA). A cousin of George & Ira Gershwin, Julia derives pleasure especially in performing the Gershwins’ timeless lyrics and enduring melodies.
